Needles Embroidery

Needle choice can be really frustrating, but not anymore here is the most used embroidery needle what, where, and how to use them properly ,soon you will discover which needle works best for you fo each type of thread and fabric.

Before we start you need to know some basics in order to chose the right one

  • The eye of the needle should be large enough to accommodate the thread without wearing or distorting the thread twist,
  • The shaft of the needle should be at least the same diameter as the thread so that when you  pass the needle through your canvas ,it's happen very pass smoothly without any difficulty, or hearing a sound ,if so , it's means you are forcing me to pass through ,in this case the risque to make a hole and damaging the fabric is very high, the solution is to get a higher number means smaller needle
  • The higher the number the finer the needle exemple crewel No. 3 is much bigger than crewel needle No. 9.

Tapesery Needle

I have a large blunt point and long wide eye , I came in packages of assorted sizes from No. 18 to No. 24 ,I am perfect specially with all stitches that you just stitch on the top on loose fabric without going up and down passing through the fabric  ,my blunt point  allo me to protect your work and your fibers fabric to not be cached up by my point since I have a rounded end ,where you are working with me for weaving in and out , whipping or  threaded stitches .My eye is the widest part of me, con fit a thick yarns and  special threads like like ribbons.

Chenille Needle

I am the twin of the Tapestry needle same sizes and wide long eye, But with a  difference Shape point ,mine is very sharp point not blunt and large big eye witch make me great option to stitch stitches that need to me to pass through the fabric but the most important particularity of me is that I can accommodate a large variety of thick yarns and the large ribbons for beautiful a bold modern art embroidery .

Crewel Needle

I am very popular the most known as embroidery needle, I have long eyed and a very sharp point, I came with different sizes from No. 3 to No. 9, the sizes choice depend on the number of strands used from one to six, so more you add strands you go down with my number for bigger version of me .
for exemple: 6 strands DMC n 25 the best is number 9, if you take 3 strands you can go down for 7 or less.

Danners Needle

I am very long with sharp point, my length is very useful for knotted stitches like bullion knot, french knot, caston stitch.., suggest you numero 1 to 5.

Bead Needle

I have a long sharp point and small eye, my long  thin shape allow me to stitch with the smallest beads in the world without difficulty,I am hardly replaceable for bead embroidery.
I am perfect for threading up long lines of beads , bugles, and pearls.
use me in numero 10-12 for beads numero 15- 0 or 11- O (this are the smallest the more you go up in numbers like 7-0 5-0 the bigger the beads are and for this big beads you can replace the bead embroidery with the crewlel embroidery numero 12 but remember it's shorter than me so forget long chain beads stitch at one timer couching work)
